A Globalizing Trade Publishing World
Publishers Lunch newsletter founder Michael Cader and renowned publishing consultant Mike Shatzkin bring their Publishers Launch conference series to Frankfurt for the second year on Monday, 8 October 2012. (They are the same team behind the programming of Digital Book World as well.)
This packed one-day event will cover the key strategic and operational issues faced by trade publishers around the globe in transitioning to a digital world, as well as presenting specially-commissioned data and analysis, new companies and services for the trade publishing world to consider, and new initiatives from some of the biggest publishers and retailers.
This is a trade publishing strategy and tactics conference for consumer publishing executives, agents, retailers (and those who wish to do business with them) looking to innovate and take advantage appropriately of digital opportunities. It’s not a technology conference focused on a world without traditional trade players. This year’s informal theme is Innovative Executives. Speakers from around the world include:
Patricia Arancibia, Editorial Director, International Digital Content, Barnes & Noble
Benedict Evans, Consultant, Enders Analysis
Peter Hildick-Smith, President, Codex Group
Brian Napack, Senior Advisor, Providence Equity Partners
Helmut Pesche, Editorial Director Digital Media, Bastei Entertainment (Bastei Lübbe Publishers)
Dominique Raccah, CEO & Publisher, Sourcebooks
Charlie Redmayne, CEO, Pottermore
Rebecca Smart, Managing Director, Osprey Group
Marcello Vena, Director of Digital Products, RCS Libri (Rizzoli/Fabbri Editori)
and many more.
Topics in 2012 include:
* The international expansion of major technology companies and ebook players
* Preserving in-store discovery and improving online discovery
* Cloud services: how SaaS (software as a service) will change publishing IT
* New businesses initiatives from innovative publishers around the world
Your Publishers Launch conference ticket includes a full Frankfurt Book Fair visitor’s badge (a 64-euro value) as well.
